The Raptor is the human fleet's main military heavy transport. It functions as a combat shuttlecraft to deploy marines and a mobile missile launcher to offer combat assistance when necessary.

During the second Human-Cylon war, The Raptor was mostly used as a reconnaissance ship to scout out locations for enemy ships, find much-needed resources like ice for drinking water, and also assist to deploy nuclear payloads undetected when the need arises.

While The Raptor is perhaps the most versatile craft in the human fleet, it is also the slowest, often relying on cruising across space with its power switched off so it can fly under Cylon radars as an unassuming piece of space junk.
