10 Fastest Ships In Battlestar Galactica
5. The Viper Mark II
The Viper Mark 2 is the Galactica reboot's own version of the iconic fighter from the original 1978 series. The ship's newer design still keeps the classic look, while being updated so as to be a bit more believable in the somewhat grounded show's universe.
The ship as a whole has been slimmed down in overall size, giving this version of the Viper its own unique look that can easily be distinguished from its original model.
But how does this ship function in combat? Well sadly, while it's the most iconic ship in the remake series, it is also the slowest overall.
Thanks to some estimations on Wikipedia by truly diehard fans of the series, as well as conversations infringed from several creative heads in the series, we know the Viper Mark 2 can go about as fast as an airplane made in World War Two.
This, coupled with a complete lack of an FTL drive, means that the Viper Mark 2 relies entirely on the skill and competence of its pilot in combat.
It's unknown how many Vipers the Galactica has lost during the second Human-Cylon war, but it's easy to guess that it is in the dozens. Each Viper lost in the show can be considered a major defeat for humanity both in the number of lives lost, and the loss of irreplaceable ships needed for Galacita's defense and offense capabilitys.
