10 Films From 2013 That Would Make Great TV Shows

2. The Wolf Of Wall Street

An adaptation of Scorsese's debauched instant classic could work like Mad Men meets Suits meets Boardwalk Empire, and that has to be counted as essential. Scorsese's biopic on wallstreet scammer Jordan Belfort could easily work as a HBO series with sex, drugs and naked women covered in money. Belfort, who now works as a motivation speaker, is shopping around an idea for a reality show where he helps people get back on track after hitting rock bottom. With recent string of bankers screwing the public over this world is fresh in our minds, but a touch of style nostalgia never did TV wrong. The sequel to American Psycho (which also features 'unusual' Wallstreet banks) is set for a TV remake by Stefan Jaworski in which the action is moved from the 80's to the modern day. At 3 hours long this film should have bored audiences but instead was praised, its high level of sex and drugs scenes were not as universally loved but HBO would be perfect for this. Box office audiences somehow seem more sensitive than TV ones, the excessive nature of Belfort's life more fitting here. Something has to seriously go wrong for Leonardo Di Caprio to return to the small screen. David Duchovny showed us his sleazy charm in Californication while Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Joseph Fiennes and Patrick Dempsey have the dark charm needed to play such a high flyer. Jonah Hill is great as comedy relief but Andy Sandberg or Stephan Merchant could easily fill that role.
