Sheldon being given the promotion and pay rise for being petulant and running away was brilliant and the concept of him teaching classes is appetite whetting. The idea of Howard taking the class and getting his PhD is just what the doctor ordered, but him being the only student is a missed opportunity. Sheldon likes to think hes above everyone else and smarter than the rest of humanity, you could have a mixed class of geniuses and creationists to challenge and infuriate him. The choice of class members would also allow for a few new characters to be brought in on a semi-regular basis. This wouldnt have to be in every episode, but allow the classroom to be a stage for discussion on science issues while still having a laugh. The show was dumbed down to gain audience share and not to alienate those who were maybe not, or felt they werent, intelligent enough to grasp the more advanced concepts that the show has previously explored. But now that the audience is there, maybe its time to dial the intelligence level of the show back up a bit. Nobody watches Big Bang Theory to learn about physics, but thats not to say that they couldnt maybe learn something along the way.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
