Another of the complaints that was addressed was giving Penny a proper job. The way that was handled was actually very good and having Penny being the swot while Amy and Bernadette were getting drunk and trying to entice her out was excellent. It was also questioned what would happen if she started earning a lot more than Leonard and that issue was explored specifically in a recent episode. It was interesting that the show chose to acknowledge the difficulties in Leonard and Pennys relationship. The way they spoke to each other while passing the money back and forth was hardly loving, but the resolution was pragmatic and mature. Penny has always been much smarter than she thought so its nice to see the character get to realise that. How it changes the dynamic of the group and the relationship with Leonard is up to the writers, but too much work has been done bringing them together to split them up now. Better to see Penny grow into a more confident and high flying professional with a more mature outlook on life. This would be a good message for younger female viewers and show that applying yourself leads to success.
