Going by the name of Réttur in its native Iceland, Case is another big-hitting Nordic noir crime drama. The show centres on Logi, a tough-talking, alcoholic lawyer who spent time behind bars for a crime that he may or may not have committed in his younger years, and the small-time law firm he works for.
Like any good investigation show, the star of Case is a bit of a maverick who isn't afraid to break the rules to get results . Distant and cold with his co-workers, but also highly talented and charismatic, Logi is a fascinating character and part of the fun of the show comes from watching his interactions with Brynhildur and Hörður, his co-workers. The acting is excellent throughout and the noir-style soundtrack really sucks you into each episode.
Inspired by true crimes, this show sets itself apart with very intelligent writing and realistic scenarios, with the producers taking the time to thoroughly investigate the Icelandic justice system in order to ensure that each episode is true-to-life. Taking cues from American courtroom dramas but retaining a distinctly Scandinavian tone, Case is a highly bingeable and thoroughly unique show.
