10 Forgotten Doctor Who Stories That Are Just As Good As 'The Classics'

2. State of Decay

02 A Vampire tale that does wonders for the mythology of Doctor Who and then seems to be forgotten about afterwards. State of Decay suffers from being the middle story in the E-Space trilogy. While a good trilogy, the Doctor does have bigger problems to deal with than these Vampires. There seems to be a bit of a missed opportunity here as the Vampires vs Time Lords idea was never expanded upon on-screen. However State of Decay is a very creepy and atmospheric story, bringing some new ideas to the series as well as harking back to the Pertwee era with the odd reference. This is also one of the few stories where the character of Adric has potential, coming up with his own plan for tackling the Vampires, as useless as it may be.
