10 Forgotten Doctor Who Stories That Are Just As Good As 'The Classics'

1. Image of the Fendahl

01 This story really represents the end of a significant era of Doctor Who. For the previous few seasons the show had taken more than a little inspiration from the Gothic horror genre and Image is the final story to do so. It manages to show why the genre had worked so well and still provides an original tale. They could have easily continued to do some more of the horror stuff very well but at the time BBC bosses wanted something a little more upbeat from Doctor Who, something that came into place with the next story, The Sun Makers. Perhaps this story isn't loved as much as it should be because it represents the end of such an entertaining run of stories, seeing popular entries such as Pyramids of Mars, The Brain of Morbius and The Talons of Weng Chiang. Image of the Fendahl shows that the genre could still be strong, despite bringing it to an end. There are many other forgotten classics out there and all of them are worth a watch. Have I missed any significant ones?
