3. Christian Slater

When most people think of Christian Slater, what comes to mind is this brooding, almost James Dean like persona from the 1980s. There were all these films like 16 Candles and Pretty in Pink, and then you've got a movie like Heathers, this incredibly dark look at high school that was so unlike everything else that was being made at the time. He was a fantastic, edgy actor (with a voice eerily similar to a young Jack Nicholson), although some of projects didn't live up to his abilities. Unfortunately, problems in his personal life drew attention away from his career during the mid-90s, culminating in a three-month stint in jail for assault and cocaine abuse in 1997. But with that all behind him, he's back and better than ever. Slater has been working heavily in television for the past seven or eight years, and it has succeeded in building up his insurability again, something that always takes a hit whenever an actor deals with drug or criminal issues that bring into question whether or not a production company can absorb the risk of hiring them. Currently he's starring on a program called Mind Games with Steve Zahn, which seems poised to join the stable of quirky procedural dramas popular on television at the moment.
