2. The Doll (Season 2, Episode 7)
Larry and Julia-Louis Dreyfus' new sitcom is finally on track with a successful pitch to ABC. As is tradition in this series, any good fortune in Larry's life must be undermined and destroyed immediately, the only question is how. Desperate to use a more private restroom during a network executive's party, Larry makes a dash upstairs where he meets their daughter and decides cutting the hair off a priceless doll isn't the worst idea on record.
To the shock of no one, it's a catastrophic decision that lands him and his new sitcom in hot water. The mishap leads him and Jeff on an idiotic odyssey to find the doll a new head. The duo's ludicrous attempts at fixing the problem ramp up the laughs as does Susie's brutal dressing down of the 2 when she finds them in Sammi's bedroom stealing her still intact version of the doll.
An earlier example of the many times Larry has traumatised Jeff and Susie's daughter, it's also one of the most well-executed, tightly plotted in the series with an ending so perfect in set-up and punchline it has to be seen to be believed.
