10 Futurama Episodes Probably Made Out Of Spite

The 37th President Of The United States was the butt of many a joke when it came to Futurama plotlines. Episode Seven of Season Two saw President Nixon receive his very own episode in which he is competing to be President of the Earth. In the episode, Nixon is painted as quite the villain and the heart of all evil and corruption. This vendetta against the President did not go unnoticed, with his own family and memorial museum requesting for the creators to stop using him as a character.

The hatred for the 37th President apparently stems from creator Matt Groening's dislike for the man. Groening was not alone back then, as many cartoonists used the President for content. This episode was one big caricature and left many viewers with a rather different opinion of Richard Nixon.

When asked about the use of the President as cannon fodder, Groening said it felt as if he was "kicking Nixon from beyond the grave". The episode has a number of references to questionable speeches the man made, as well as a reference to Nixon's Vice President, Gerald Ford, who became President without any votes due to the resignation of his superior.
