10 Futurama Episodes Probably Made Out Of Spite

6. Law And Oracle (S6E16)

Futurama A Taste Of Freedom
20th Television

Law and Oracle could perhaps be interpreted as a typical mocking of the police force in America. Fry realises that his life isn't going anywhere quickly so he decides to enrol with the men in blue. He enrols at the academy and is soon promoted to the Future Crimes Division where he eventually has to deal with a crime committed by a friend, Bender. The issue put Fry and his entire friend group at risk and forces him to make a choice about his life.

The Chief is one big parody and often comes out with some pretty stupid stuff that doesn't make the police force seem that intelligent. Despite the jokey feel, the episode's main message is that Fry is an integral part of the Planet Express team as everyone starts to miss him once he leaves.

This Season Six offering mocks a number of productions, including long-running TV series Law & Order and the Police Academy movies. The episode was very well-received but wasn't as popular as previous outings. Whether or not that is more down to the police references or more to do with the overused jokes, still remain unknown
