10 Futurama Episodes Probably Made Out Of Spite
7. Naturama (S7E13)
This 2012 episode doesn't target one specific event or person but rather an entire ecosystem. Naturama questions the meaning of life and concludes with the idea that there is no meaning and we all live and die for no reason. It's pretty grim, right?
The characters of the usual Futurama show we all know and love are depicted in the form of animal caricatures. This episode doesn't have the familiar space backdrop, hence the name. The episode is also voiced bu a parody version of Morgan Freeman, modelled after his narration of the 2005 documentary March of the Penguins.
There is a segment in the episode which makes a reference to the famous Pianta Island tortoise, Lonesome George. George sadly died a few months before the episode was aired, so it acts as a tribute to the well-known reptile.
Naturama concludes with the Morgan Freeman copycat saying, "And so the endless circle of life comes to an end, merciless and grim. Why did they live and why did they die? No reason" - which leaves viewers questioning their very existence.
All in all, the creators use this episode to comment on life's purpose and mock life as it's own entity.
