2. The Hound

Arguably the most discussed off-screen presumed death is that of the Hound. Sandor Clegane was denied the gift of mercy by Arya Stark, and the last time we saw the warrior, he was bleeding out from his wounds after fighting Brienne in Season 4. He SHOULD be dead, but there are plenty of rumours which suggest he could have pulled through. The books highlight a shady grave digger character with an unknown identity, and many fans believe it could be the Hound reborn. He was spared by the Brotherhood Without Banners after passing the trial by combat, though he still hasn't served the great purpose that justified him pulling through. If he is returning, you'd expect it to be in Season 6, but until then, we'll just have to wait and see.
