10 Game Of Thrones Scenes WAY More Brutal In The Books
6. Brienne Vs 'The Hound'
The final episode of season four ended with one hell of a face-off between Brienne and the Hound. Although Brienne came away with a few bumps and bruises she was nevertheless the victor. This plays out very differently in the books.
In a Feast for Crows, Brienne spends all her time scouring the Riverlands in the hope of finding Sansa Stark. On her many adventures she hears rumours of the Hound leading a bunch of outlaws in various atrocities, committing murder, rape and mutilation.
She eventually runs into the outlaws at the Inn at the Crossroads, and discovers the 'Hound' is actually a character named Rorge who has found Clegane's dog-head helmet and is posing as him. She kills Rorge in a dual, but his companion, Biter, leaps on her, pins her to the ground and begins savaging her face with his teeth... She's only saved when the Brotherhood Without Banners show up to kill her attacker.
Brienne's last thoughts are "he's eating me" before she passes out from the pain. When she finally comes around, it's revealed that Biter tore huge chunks of flesh from her face, leaving her completely deformed.
