10 Game Of Thrones Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

4. Viserys Is Charles Dickens€™ Great Great Grandson

This fact is even more surprising than Oona Chaplin from the ninth spot, especially because the actor's name in this case would never give it away. The evil Targaryen brother who got his "golden crown" in the first season was played by Harold Lloyd, a 28 year old British actor whose parents are Marion and Jonathan Lloyd. However, before she became a Lloyd, Marion was a Dickens, the great granddaughter of none other than Charles Dickens, one of the most popular and legendary authors who ever lived. While it's hard to imagine Lloyd's character from the show fitting in a Dickensian world, the ghost of Charles Dickens still lingers heavily in the Lloyd household. For the longest time during Harry's childhood, no one in the family was allowed to be a writer, but he was still surrounded by artists. His father Jonathan is a literary agent, his mother Marion is a children's book publisher, and he's got cousins who are actors and radio producers. Most interesting of all, Harry's first feature role on film was portraying the character Steerforth from Dickens' classic David Copperfield. Harry was fascinated with his legendary ancestor, having read more of his books than any other relative and doing his Oxford thesis on him too. Now go back to season 1 and watch the vicious Viserys again, knowing that he's got Dickens blood in him, and tell us you won't feel a tad bit different.
