10 Geek Secrets The Big Bang Theory Made Famous

5. Alphas

Oh, and guess what other €˜superhero€™ show Summer Glau had a supporting role in? The next on our list, Alphas. Premiering in 2011 on SyFy, Alphas followed a group of superhumans banding together to investigate crimes perpetrated by others of their kind, under the watchful eye of a government one step away from placing them all in a concentration camp. The show would portray so-called Alpha abilities as being based in real biology and science, with no superhero trappings such as codenames or costumes, and very little in the way of grandstanding super abilities. No one could fly, or walk through walls. Sadly, a show with some fantastic writing and brilliant character acting wouldn€™t achieve the desired ratings, and Alphas bit the bullet at the close of season two, never resolving the massive cliffhanger that the finale left its small but dedicated audience. The Big Bang Theory would pay a little homage to this great show that left us too soon in season six, with €˜The Closure Alternative€™. Sheldon wasn€™t aware that Alphas had been cancelled until Leonard told him, and rather predictably, went bananas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc5wwl1kjP4
