It's not easy being the last of the Time Lords, you know. For most of us, the biggest decision we face on a daily basis is what to have for tea, but for the Doctor it usually comes down to making some almighty choice which usually leaves tidal waves of devastation in its wake. It's a bit like when you eventually choose salad over pizza. What were you thinking!? Such was the case for our beloved hero in Series 1's World War Three when he had the fate of planet Earth quite literally in his hands (for a change!). This time, though, saving the human race from the scheming Slitheen would mean the death of him and his faithful new companion Rose Tyler, and they had developed such an unbreakable bond since they'd met a grand total of 3 episodes ago. Still, this sentimental speech perfectly encapsulated the sort of moral dilemma the Doctor finds himself in on a regular basis. Fans often ask themselves, "What would the Doctor do?" when they're feeling downtrodden in their everyday lives but, rather disconcertingly, sometimes he doesn't even know the answer to that question. Nobody's perfect. He came through in the end, of course, because he wasn't really going to do when there was still 8 episodes of the series left. It was touch and go for a scary minute there, though...
