10 Great TV Shows With One Major Flaw
7. Too Many Car Accidents As Plot Devices - The Sopranos
The Sopranos is undeniably one of the greatest TV shows of all time, albeit one that never saw a car accident it couldn't make a storyline out of, apparently.
If you've ever binged-watched the series all the way through, it quickly becomes noticeable how strangely reliant series creator David Chase is on utilising car crashes, carjackings, and hit-and-runs as plot devices.
Sure, you can argue that Chase wanted to introduce some comparative mundanity to the lives of these mobsters, but given that there are literally dozens of vehicle-related incidents throughout the show's six seasons, it does end up feeling a bit too repetitive for its own good.
Almost every major character in the show is involved in a car incident of some kind before series' end, with Tony (James Gandolfini) himself enduring a statistically improbable number of them.
It's enough to make you think that motor accidents must be the leading cause of death in New Jersey, with cancer - the series' other wildly overused plot point - coming in at a distant second.
