You would expect a show dominated by bloodshed and violence to deliver on its fights. Akame Ga Kill did that and then some. They also saved the best for last, when the two strongest fighters on both sides finally met during the climatic final battle.

Night Raid had slowly chipped away at the imperial forces, killing one important figure after the other. However, in order for the revolution to be a success, they had to take out the enemy’s ace in the hole, the sadistic General Esdeath.

Akame, the spearhead of Night Raid, herself had been preparing for this battle for quite some time. With the fate of the people on the line, the two duke it out in a war of attrition. Akame fends off Esdeath’s ice attacks, while the General desperately avoids getting her skin pierced by Akame’s poison blade. The fight appears to be decided when Akame does finally manage to slash her opponent. But Esdeath casually chops off her own arm to prevent the poison spreading.

This brutal slugfest drags on, until Akame is at long last able to out-manoeuvre her foe and land a decisive strike, and even then Esdeath made sure she had the last word before biting the dust.
