There's nothing more wonderful in life than having a best friend with whom you can snarkily judge the world. Most teenage pessimists would have killed to have a meaningful friendship like the one shared between Daria and Jane. They had the same cynical, apathetic world view and crushing contempt for everyone around them -- it was a match made in heaven. Jane is slightly more well-adjusted than Daria, as she has a close relationship with her brother Trent and tends to be pretty outgoing. Daria, by contrast, is significantly more intellectual and introverted. Together, they are the sarcastic queens of the universe, upon which many a 90s teenage girl based her life philosophy. For a lot of viewers, they were everything we wished we could have been in high school. How many of us have been waiting for a man to ask us, "Where have you been all my life?" just so we could reply, "Waiting here for you. We were born in this room, we grew up in this room, and we thought we would die here...alone. But now you've arrived, and our lives can truly begin"?
