Arguably the pinnacle of the horror reinvention, American Horror Story puts most horror series to shame. While everyone has their favourite season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, it consistently manages to shock and entertain in equal measures. Every year we have a fresh take on an old tale. From haunted houses, to witches covens and mental asylums, Horror Story weaves in everything from cannibals to aliens (with mixed effect). At the core of the show is its unbeatable cast of Hollywood A-Listers.
Resident Queen Supreme Jessica Lange departed after the fourth season, and while her return is constantly foreshadowed, the show currently rests on the shoulders of Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, and Kathy Bates.
Perhaps the biggest news for the show, was when they bagged their own taste of music fame when Lady GaGa joined in Season 5. Currently half way through the sixth season, Ryan Murphy recently dropped a mind-bending twist that turned Season 6 completely on its head.
As for the future? American Horror Story has already been renewed for a seventh season, whilst rumours of a mysterious secret season are on the cards.
