If you are looking for light-hearted family viewing, or a show with a Twilight Zone moral core, turn off now. Black Mirror's satirical take on the dystopian futures constantly asks, "Can technology really kill you?" Revenge porn, chid exploitation, artificial intelligence, and our own modern vanity - Black Mirror usually has the theme of death running under the surface. Originally airing on Channel 4, Charlie Brooker's first season came out to rave reviews (mainly due to one particular "pig" scene).

As the satirical writer's second entry on this list, Black Mirror is a more rounded affair than Dead Set. Brooker told The Guardian:

"Each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they're all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes' time if we're clumsy."

Fans of the show even include horror legend Stephen King, while actress Jodie Foster is set to direct an episode of the fourth season. The third season is currently airing on Netflix, and with higher production values and a more well-known cast, things are on the up for the downer of a show.
