10 Greatest Saturday Night Live Guest Hosts

6. John Goodman

Two words, y'all: Linda Tripp. The woman was a primary investigator in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and John Goodman was born to play her. He had been a popular host long before Bill Clinton ever even met Lewinsky, but his performance as Tripp really cemented his reputation as one of the best hosts in Saturday Night Live history. Weirdly enough, some of his best moments on the show were when he was playing various female characters: Tripp notwithstanding, there was also the legendary Church Lady's Mother. Just like in his regular acting roles, he brought a sort of gruff everyman style to the characters he played on the show. The Bill Brasky sketches about the drunken salesmen, which were originally only intended to be a one-off, became tremendously popular largely thanks to Goodman and fellow celebrity host Alec Baldwin. Bottom line, if it was the 90s and John Goodman was hosting, you knew you were going to be getting a good show.
