10 Greatest TV Anti-Heroes

9. "Shane Walsh" The Walking Dead

Despite having watched every episode of The Walking Dead and liking the excitement of the series so far, I haven't really liked the actors or the characters all that much. To me, especially in Season 1, they were all kind of bland and uninteresting... this is why I really liked the direction Shane's character went in Season 2. I am a sucker for characters that kill people and then try to gain back our sympathy. With Shane, he didn't really ever receive it after killing two people in cold, inhuman blood, but he was a character I loved to hate, and one of the very few characters on the show I even loved at all. He was the main reason to watch The Walking Dead in the second season just out of curiosity, to see what the character was capable of and how long he could survive as a member of the group... turns out not that long, but I am glad they had the guts to kill him off. By the time he did die, he probably got what was coming to him, but it is always fun to watch a character spin so far out of control. Without a morally ambiguous anti-hero to hate-love in the third season, I am worried that the shows characters will all continue to remain somewhat bland and uninteresting, and personally, Rick Grimes is one of the least interesting main characters to lead a cable show in a long while (despite being a fan of Andrew Lincoln). Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
