10 Greatest TV Anti-Heroes

8. "Kenny Powers" Eastbound and Down

So maybe this isn't the most conventional anti-hero in the list, but I would argue that Kenny, though never can really be seen as the antagonist of the show, is a character we hate to love, and deserves his place on this list. As the protagonist of the show, he certainly isn't stereotypical, and we certainly don't aspire to be like him or have his morals... for the most part he is a pretty terrible guy, but we love him none the less. Kenny Powers, the one time baseball pitcher has a short temper, an ego the size of a baseball pitch and one of the foulest mouths on television. Really, he is a train wreck of a person, who deserves all the crap he gets, and shouldn't really have anything good coming in his life. He leaves his girlfriend April at a gas station at the end of Season 1 and runs away to Mexico without any explanation. He treats his family, who let him stay in his house with zero respect, he sleeps around, drinks like a fish but still, for some reason, we want to see him succeed. He really is one of the most under-rated, funniest television characters to come along in a while, and if you are sick with all the more conventional TV sit-com's of recent years and you don't watch Eastbound and Down... you are missing out my friend. Believe me, I very rarely laugh out loud, but whenever Kenny is on his jet boat with a "naked chick" sat behind him, I am practically crying with laughter. There really isn't and may never again be another show quite like this one on TV.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
