7. "Tate Langdon" American Horror Story

Tate Langdon could have easily been the most unsympathetic, most vile character on TV ever. The writers of this show, and the actor Evan Peters who plays the character to absolute perfection really do deserve a lot of credit for making this character as likable as he is. Considering that in American Horror Story's one season we saw him kill about 12 school students with a shotgun and for absolutely no reason, brutally murder a gay couple and rape the shows leading character played by Connie Briton it's odd that he was not only my favorite character on the series, but perhaps even my favorite break out character of all of last year. Part of the reason it is arguably acceptable to love this character(well, at least love to hate him) is firstly because he is shown to have some serious mental illnesses. We know that something isn't right in this boys head, and perhaps the fact that his mother is a murderer and he has lived in or next door to a "murder house" ( a house where every resident is brutally killed) for all of his life certainly can't have helped. The second reason is that, although we don't know this from the beginning (spoiler alert)... Tate is a ghost, and like Nicole Kidman's character in "The Others", if characters have already died, it is much easier to forgive a character of their horrible sins. Most of the reason this character is so compelling is simply because the actor Evan Peters (from Kick Ass fame) is such an interesting actor to watch, and really is the star of a pretty fantastic show. If you haven't seen it already, you really should.
