10 Groundbreaking TV Shows That Were Cancelled Too Soon

2. Arrested Development

Arrested Development

"There's always money in the banana stand." After a brief period of shock, I knew I was in for something special, something that was beyond the place of a mortal. But here it was. Arrested Development stands as one of the crowning achievements of television, running for 3 glorious seasons, and in the process solidifying itself as one of the most brilliant and clever comedy's ever written. Relying on its cast for much of the laughs, they did not fail the material, with each of them bringing something unique to the show. It was a case of everything coming together and fitting in exactly the right place. And now we are privileged as Season 4 is on the way in July, marking the second time on this list that a show has been brought back. To be fair, it's impossible to name another show that has had such an active and vocal group of disenchanted fans clamoring for it's return. Regularly indulging and subverting cliches, regularly jumping the shark for its comedic value, and regularly becoming erratic and eccentric, if Arrested Development were a person, it would be the strangest creature known to man. I have watched the entire run 3 times, and I still keep finding a wealth of material that only presents itself upon repeat viewings. It is easily one of the funniest shows ever made, and its use of irony is almost unmatched. A true gem on behalf of the efforts of everyone involved, and with the recent news of its renewal, the fans can congratulate themselves as being part of this group. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint.
