2. Human Nature Romance (Human Nature/Family of Blood, 2007)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fibica42k4 Theres been many little moments when the Doctor seems to have found a bit of romance. The First Doctor found it briefly with an Aztec woman. The Eighth Doctor seemed to be interested in Grace (until he came to his senses), and the Tenth, rather bizarrely, seemed to be in love with Rose. Then theres the whole River Song thing. But never has a romance felt more natural, and less forced, than it did between John Smith and Nurse Redfern. When the Doctor finally leaves behind the John Smith persona and says his goodbyes to the woman hes seriously in love with, its a wonderfully sad, deeply touching moment played expertly by two great actors. Truly a great scene, and the second most heartbreaking in 49 years.
