8. Archive 81

Adapted from the podcast of the same name, Archive 81 features a mysterious horror premise, where conservator Dan is hired to restore a series of fire-damaged video tapes, housed at a spooky facility from which they cannot be removed.

While the creep-factor is inherent from the beginning thanks to the dubious men in suits and unnerving atmosphere, as Dan begins to watch the tapes - made in 1994 by grad student Melody for a project about a now-burned down apartment building - the element of the supernatural quickly reveals itself.

From here, the narrative follows the two characters in their respective timelines as it becomes clear that something evil resides not only in the apartment building, but perhaps within the tapes themselves.

To elaborate much further would be a spoiler, and Archive 81 is a story you deserve to unravel firsthand. While Netflix did unfortunately cancel the series after only the first season, what was released is still a more-than worthwhile watch that incorporates found footage in a new and interesting way.

If you like time travel, cults, and a who-(or what)-dunnit element to your horror, this one is definitely for you.
