Somewhat overshadowed by 2017’s It, Bill Skarsgard’s second Steven King outing (and second appearance on this list) Castle Rock nevertheless deserves equal commendation.

Set in the eponymous Castle Rock, Maine, the show sets out to adapt many of the stories set within King’s often-used fictional town by taking a character-driven approach and featuring elements of the various different narratives within the same place.

When results is an anthology-esque horror mystery that is sure to please the most hardcore of Steven King fans, with the first season surrounding the appearance of a secretly long-held inmate at Shawshank Prison, and the attorney called to return to the town to represent him.

Full of references and easter eggs hiding around every corner, the series however was missed out on by many potential casual viewers, thanks to obtuse marketing and its broadcast on US-only streaming service Hulu.

Though the show was sadly cancelled after only two seasons, it is undeniably still worth the watch, as intense performances and a masterfully-crafted atmosphere deliver a Once Upon A Time-esque delight for horror fans everywhere.
