10 Hidden Gem Horror TV Shows You Need To Watch
5. Requiem
A Netflix and BBC collaboration that unfortunately flew under the collective radar, ghostly thriller Requiem comes well-equipped with psychological spooks to seriously unsettle your day.
Starring Lydia Wilson as famous cellist Matilda, the narrative starts out as something of a crime mystery, as witnessing her mother’s sudden suicide leads her to investigate the previous small-town disappearance of a young Welsh girl, and causes her to question her own identity.
However, the more Matilda digs into the case, the more supernatural elements reveal themselves, opening up into a frightening tale of cults, angels, and ghosts that will have you on the edge of your seat.
While the show features less outright bloody violence than your typical horror, the creeping dread, eerie atmosphere, and trauma dealt by show’s multiple suicides serve to make it an unnerving watch all the same.
Be mindful of the subject matter, as the mental health themes in this one really do get dark, but Requiem stands as a rare example of a show that blends and handles its psychological and supernatural horror equally well.
