10 Huge Actors You Forgot Were In Scrubs

8. Courteney Cox

Colin Farrell Scrubs
NBC

Still fresh off the mega-success that was Friends, Courteney Cox turned up for a short stay during Scrubs' eighth season as Sacred Heart's new Chief of Medicine, Dr Maddox. Initially portrayed as kind and approachable, it soon came to light that Maddox was incredibly cruel, sadistic and cold to her patients.

With no real interest in actually caring for people, Maddox would only look after patients with money, and seemed indifferent to the fact her new hospital policies would stop J.D, Turk et al from properly doing their jobs. Maddox ended up in three episodes, before being fired due to Dr Kelso's influence over the board in "My Saving Grace."

Cox was great in the role, visibly enjoying her time playing the evil, unlikable character after years of playing the eccentric but lovable Monica Gellar. She would go on to star in her own sitcom, Cougar Town, from 2009 to 2015, and is set to reprise her iconic role as journalist Gale Weathers in 2022's anticipated Scream sequel.
