Series 10 took quite the turn when it revealed that the Doctor was blind. Even more surprising was the fact that he actually stayed this way for a couple of episodes, rather than it being solved with a quick deus ex timey-wimey.

The Doctor's blindness proved to be a right pain in the neck during the climax of The Pyramid at the End of the World, where the Doctor has to enter a four-digit number to escape a lab that's about to explode.

Since he can't see the numbers (and since Nardole is having a nap), Bill Potts is forced to make a dodgy deal with the Monks to restore his eyesight, allowing him to enter the code.

Well, we say "forced", but that isn't actually true. Bill is using a smartphone to communicate with the Doctor during this scene, and since we know that his sonic shades are capable of transmitting video, why doesn't the Doctor send a video feed of the lock to Bill, allowing her to guide him to the right combination?

Well, the answer is... because the writers didn't think of that. Still, it's a great scene, and a great ending to the episode, so at least there's that.
