7. The Killer Is The Character Most People Guessed Broadchurch
Broadchurch was such a huge success, that it's heading over to the US for an adaptation. David Tennant is reprising his role and adding an American accent (hopefully it's better than previous attempts) and apparently, the killer isn't going to be the same as on the UK version. Which is a relief, really. Rather than focussing on a death each episode, Broadchurch was noteworthy because it centred itself on just the one death, and how that murder could affect the surrounding town. It was an ensemble cast, any of them could have been the murderer, and the show took on a life of its own in the latter stages, sparking a huge "whodunit" guessing game in the media as to who killed Danny. Unfortunately, a lot of people guessed that it was Joe, Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller's husband. We'd guessed that episodes before the finale even; it was fairly simple for Alec (Tennant) to work it out in the end, and the show took some time dealing with the aftermath. But it never felt like a big, elaborate reveal, Poirot-style. It just happened. And given how much build-up there'd been, it would have been nice to see at least some kind of fanfare and just the tiniest of twists in the tale.
