2. Sylar Survives The Season Finale (Three Times) Heroes
It's coming back to TV! But that doesn't necessarily mean that Heroes will get over its bizarre obsession with keeping its main characters alive. There are numerous anticlimaxes in the show, but let's just focus on the best character by far, Sylar. The first season centred on his need to be special and his murder spree, and culminated in a battle between him and Peter. Turns out that these superbeings of immense power only fight with fists, but that's just a minor anticlimax in the grand scheme of things; it was foreshadowed that Hiro would kill Sylar, and the finale delivered that big moment. Come Season 2 though, he was alive: the Company (you know, the good guys) brought him back to life. Season 3's finale saw Sylar attack the Company HQ; they should've known that their silly decision would come back to bite them, right? Sylar was stabbed in the head with a shard of glass, and that seemed like the end this time... until of course the glass melted. But they wouldn't be stupid enough to commit the same act three times would they? Well, yeah. Just a season later, Nathan was killed off (that's three times he's been presumed dead in the show), only for Matt Parkman, telepath extraordinaire, to wipe Sylar's memories and replace his mind with Nathan's, so Sylar basically thinks he's Nathan. Great plan, Matt: freaky bodysnatching is definitely the best way to mourn a loved one, and given his track record, do you really think Sylar's going to stay gone? No, course he's not. Sylar came back for Season 5. It's not even the most ridiculous way an actor's been brought back to the show; Ali Larter returned to play an identical triplet of her original character, Niki. Know when to stop, writers.
