10 Ideas For Agents Of Shield Spin-Off

The Thunderbolts first appeared in the comics in the wake of Onslaught. Originally, they identified themselves as a new group of heroes who were trying to pick up the slack following the supposed deaths of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. But in reality, the Thunderbolts were actually Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil, posing as heroes to eventually take over the world.

Later, the characters in the team discovered they liked being heroes and several tried to reform, while others desired to remain villainous. Following the events of Marvel’s Civil War event, the Thunderbolts became more akin to DC’s Suicide Squad, a team of villains forced to work for the government.

Such a concept could very well serve as the basis for a new series that would lead into the events of Captain America: Civil War. As mentioned before, Coulson seems to be preparing to gather superhumans. And while a Thunderbolts initiative doesn’t seem like Coulson’s style, it could be co-opted by someone, such as Robert Gonzales or maybe Grant Ward.

There’s no shortage of villains introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. who could serve as members of the T-Bolts—Donnie Gill (Blizzard), Mark Scarlotti (Blacklash), Marcus Daniels (Blackout), Carl “Crusher” Creel (Absorbing Man), Franklin Hall (Graviton), Agent 33, the newly-transformed Raina, and Skye’s father, Calvin Zabo (Mr. Hyde) could all be contenders for a Thunderbolts series.
