10 Important Doctor Who Questions NOBODY Can Answer

9. What's Life Actually Like On Gallifrey?

Gallifrey has to be more than endless political scheming and studies at the Academy, and yet we've rarely seen the world beyond that.

So what is everyday life like on the Doctor's homeworld? What do they eat? The Twelfth Doctor eats soup in Hell Bent, but from what meat and/or vegetables? What animals are grazing on all that red grass? Did the Doctor's parents grow any crops?

Furthermore, Gallifrey is a whole entire planet, yet all we ever see is the Citadel. So what's going on elsewhere? We know that there's Arcadia, the second city, and that there are the indigenous Shobogans, who live a simpler life on the land. But that's about it.

Hilariously, it was revealed in Terrance Dicks' novel The Eight Doctors that the Shobogans ran a pub underneath the Gallifreyan Citadel. But sadly, we've never seen the Doctor visit Shobogan Wetherspoons on televised Doctor Who. And we're not likely to see Ncuti Gatwa hit the dance floor of Gallifrey's hottest nightclub, not least because the Master blew it all up again.

Everyone's always more concerned about the mythology of Gallifrey instead of the small-scale detail that makes it a living, breathing fictional world.

No wonder the Doctor left it behind.
