10 Incredible TV Shows That Everyone Thought Would Be Terrible
8. Tron: Uprising
Unlike the Tron films, Tron Uprising takes place entirely in the virtual reality world, The Grid. Apart from Jeff Bridges’ character, Kevin Flynn, appearing for a few seconds, all the characters are programs. Also, the main villain, Clu, barely appears and he isn’t voiced by Jeff Bridges. So… why would anyone be interested in this show?
Simple. Because it’s BETTER than the films. The cel-shaded look is gorgeous and there is enough Lightcycle races, Recognizers, and disc wars to satiate fans. However, the creator, Charlie Bean, never forgets to put the characters first. The show elevates itself with a phenomenal cast that includes Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Olivia Wilde, Ben Schwartz, David Arquette, Kate Mara, Aaron Paul, and many more.
However, the standout is the title character, Tron, with Bruce Boxleitner reprising the role. Although he doesn't appear much in the original films, he takes a central role in this story, serving as a mentor to the new Tron, voiced by Elijah Wood. Boxleitner's voice is utterly captivating, which makes one wonder why Tron didn't play a bigger role in the rest of the franchise.
Considering the show is available on Disney+, there’s nothing stopping viewers from discovering this lost gem.
