With The Matrix still ringing loudly in everyone's eyes and ears, 2002 seemed like the perfect time for Warren Ellis' sprawling comic-book tale of secret agents and conspiracy-stuffed intrigue to get the small screen treatment. Alas, the activities of Miranda Zero and her 1,001 covert intelligence officers never managed to get past the pilot stage to make the proposed series. This is especially annoying when you learn that the script was penned by Leverage's John Rogers and Zero was portrayed by Michelle Forbes. It's even more especially annoying when the pilot did such an exemplary job of capturing the comic's tone and mood. So what went wrong? In 2005 the pilot leaked online and Warner Brothers got all shades of upset about it, acting on a knee-jerk response to simply cancel the show in its entirety. Thanks WB, doesn't seem like an overreaction at all. Nope, totally reasonable.
