10 Incredibly Subtle Jokes From The Simpsons You Might Have Missed

4. Stolen Swan Boat ('Alone Again Natura-Diddily')

Poor Ned. Having suffered the death of his wife in a t-shirt-related tragedy, he retreats, rather reluctantly, into the dating scene. After a few disastrous evenings with some of Springfield's more predatory females (Edna, Lindsay Neagle), a stroll in the park with sickly sweet Diane and her dog, Foofie, seems to going just fine. Diane: Did you hear that, Foofie? Sounds like somebody 'wuvs' us. Ned: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. Well, maybe I'll call you again sometime. Diane: Ooh. Foofie doesn't like the sound of that ''maybe.'' 'Cause him's a commitment dog, isn't him? We then cut to Flanders frantically pedalling a swan boat to escape her - followed by an exterior shot of the Flanders' house, where, for only a moment or two, the boat can be seen parked in the driveway.
