10 Insane TV Plots That Almost Happened

6. Dr. Bailey & George Nearly Got It On In Grey’s Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy has always been a show that focuses less on medicine and more on the characters who practice it.

Fans love these characters, and above that, they love their relationships. Granted, audiences don't love every pairing the show has thrown their way, but one that almost happened might have pushed them away the most.

That's because at one point, Dr. Miranda Bailey and George O'Malley were meant to get together.

This was back in the show's planning stages when Dr. Bailey's character was called "Deborah," and the writers envisioned an entirely different personality for her. She was described as "surly, quirky, and sorely lacking in people skills." On top of that, she was meant to become involved with George in an "odd but hot" relationship, whatever that means.

Given how Dr. Bailey's character development saw her turned from someone known in the show as "The Nazi" before becoming a far more sympathetic person, it's probably for the best this didn't happen. Such a pairing would have been antithetical to her character and how she interacted with the interns early on in the series.

Additionally, It would have derailed George's character arc surrounding his relationship with Meredith, so most fans would agree that this plotline's abandonment was best for the show.
