3. Married With Children http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7Tp8hCCIJM It may have played in USA primetime television, but Married With Children was always shunted to night time viewing in the UK. It ran for 11 seasons between 1987-1997 and it was mirthfully entertaining for the most part. The sitcom features a depressed Al Bundy - erstwhile High School Football wünderkind turned bitter ladies' shoes salesman. He bickers constantly with his horrible wife Peggy. Their daughter Kelly who is attractive but also pretty dumb and sleeps around. Bud - her brother is crazy about girls and he is the one Bundy with enough brains to go to college. Next door is Marcy and her husband Jefferson who is a trophy husband and white collar criminal. He hangs out with Al. However, Al really hates Marcy and a lot of episodes are concerned with their feuding and antipathy towards each other. The programme is terribly funny. The main character - bitter, depressed and cantankerous Al has such a bad time with his kids and his cow of a wife, he is a genius comedy character given to making lots of acerbic asides. The Fox Network's longest running sitcom, it may have been on late at night but at least we got to see it.
