10 Least Interesting Romances In Otherwise Great TV Shows

1. Ted And Robin (How I Met Your Mother)

Here’s a bizarre example where the couple that turned out to be the crux of the entire show was one that fans were actively rooting against.

How I Met Your Mother begins in a really refreshing way by setting up a relationship between Ted and Robin, and then assuring viewers that they don't end up together. This won't be your typical story of a guy seeing the love of his life from across a crowded bar and then chasing after her for years.

Except the series turned out to be exactly that. Ted and Robin date in Season 2 before realizing they’re fundamentally different people and not right for each other. They break up, and then Ted spends the rest of eternity trying to get back with Robin and refusing to move on. Every episode that once again revolved around Ted trying to get Robin back just prompted a collective sigh among the audience.

But that would be okay if this was a story about a guy who has to get over a girl who isn’t right for him (Robin) in order to move on to the girl that is right for him (Tracy). Except no, in the final episode, it turns out that everything with the mother was just a waste of time until Ted could go crawling back to this decade old, failed relationship.
