10 Least Interesting Romances In Otherwise Great TV Shows
9. Troy And Britta (Community)
Remember when Troy and Britta dated? If you’ve forgotten, it’s hard to blame you, as this was a relationship introduced and then quickly abandoned because it was just profoundly uninteresting from start to finish.
Community for the most part was always able to avoid the forced sitcom romances. There was the main love triangle between Jeff, Britta and Annie, but other than that, the writers never felt the need to pair the entire study group together. When the characters dated, their partners were usually people from outside the group.
And then this happened: in early Season 4, Britta and Troy started going out for some reason. It’s not that they were an obviously terrible couple, but they just didn’t have much in the way of chemistry, and little to no effort was put into making the audience care about them. It felt like one of those romances that only existed because these were both attractive people who are on the same show, not because they have anything at all in common.
Troy and Britta officially began their relationship in Season 4 Episode 1, and they were broken up by Episode 11 in a really bizarre episode where Troy pretends to have swapped bodies with Abed. The fact that they once dated is almost never referenced again, so this is yet another victim of the “gas leak” season.
