10 Least Interesting Romances In Otherwise Great TV Shows

8. Ann and Tom (Parks And Recreation)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Jake and Amy
NBC

Parks and Recreation almost always handled relationships in the absolute perfect way. The show started out a little rocky with boring romances between Andy and Ann and Leslie and Mark, but it quickly moved on to the much more interesting pairings of Leslie and Ben and Andy and April, two of the best sitcom couples of all time.

Both of these relationships developed naturally throughout the series, especially with April and Andy. That felt like a romance that the writers just stumbled into and slowly discovered worked, much like a real life relationship. It wasn’t the show forcing a romance out of nothing.

But then there was this pointless relationship between Tom and Ann in the middle of the show that went nowhere at all. Many of the Parks department people did end up pairing off together as in your typical sitcom, but most of the couples at least felt earned. Not this one. It was forced, boring, and the two had absolutely no chemistry.

One could argue that this was kind of the point, and eventually a lot of humor was mined out of Tom's repeated and failed attempts at wooing Ann, but it just because tiring after a while. Thank goodness the writers quickly realized that and let this one go.
