10 Majorly Hyped TV Series That Disappointed Us
5. Ratched
It's fair to say that no one was expecting or even asking for a series that explored the early days of this iconic cinema baddie. Still, when Sarah Paulson's version of the character started popping up all over your news feed and websites, it certainly got people interested.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is hardly fresh in audience's heads, as the film came out in 1975. However, that gave the character of Nurse Ratched plenty of time to gestate and become an icon in her own right. Her name power and the involvement of Netflix meant that this show was able to attract a fair bit of attention, and viewers were curious to see what they'd do with the beloved character.
Unfortunately, there's a lot wrong with this show. One of the biggest grievances is that it came across as cartoonish. It was over-the-top and theatrical, completely contrasting the grit and realism of the original film and lacking the subtlety that made the character so hateable in the first place.
It's still a decent watch if you like Ryan Murphy's typical style, but a massive letdown for fans of the source material.
