10 Incredible Ways The Simpsons & Family Guy Could Cross Over

3. Homer Is Peter

In a mash-up that pits Family Guy versus the Simpsons via Tyler Durden, Peter Griffin is revealed as an aspect of Homer's split personality, and his family and the rest of Quahog a delusional projection of Homer€™s multiple personality psychosis. Here Homer and Peter's obvious similarities are explained as being due to Homer€™s inherent laziness and lack of imagination. Only he could construct a fantasy world where the protagonists aren't that far removed from his own reality. Each of the other characters in Quahog is a projected identity from Homer€™s mind onto one of the familiar characters from Springfield. This allows for some great unexpected sight-gags - instances where you would automatically expect a character like Quagmire to be a parallel to someone like Moe, he instead finds his Springfield counterpart as Agnes Skinner, hinting at Seymour's ageing mother's seedier side, or how Homer bizarrely perceives her to be. The homages to Fight Club continue through to the episode's resolution, where Homer wrestles for control from his alter-ego, with the fate of both their lives and respective home towns in the balance.
