2. Passing The Torch To A New Arrow
Months ago, when the rumours were swirling about Stephen Amell's plans and season 8 wasn't yet announced, the introduction of a new Green Arrow had people talking. Had Arrow just presented us with its new hero?
Bear in mind that Oliver had just been outed as the murdering vigilante who'd plagued Star City's authorities since it was Starling City. He was locked away in a super-max prison... and the mysterious new archer haunting Star City's rooftops seemed just as much a badass as the original.
At the time, no one could have guessed that the new Green Arrow was Oliver's sister, largely because it was very clearly a man under all that green leather (once the character's identity was revealed to be Emiko Queen, the masked avenger mysteriously lost a hundred pounds and six inches in height).
But now that we know that the show has a shelf life, there's no reason that Emiko couldn't still be the successor to her older half-brother. It's telling that now the original Green Arrow is back, she hasn't been given a costumed identity of her own.
Whatever happens to Oliver, the odds are really good that, come the series finale, the Green Arrow will be a woman.
