10 MORE Actors You Didn’t Know Were In Star Trek

The Who's Who of things that make you go 'Hmmm, they were in Star Trek?'

Some of you might already know. For others, it might come as a bit of a shock. Gene Roddenberry himself was actually in Star Trek. As its creator, Roddenberry was famously nicknamed the 'Great Bird of the Galaxy'. As most briefly the back and voice of 'chef' in Charlie X, he had to handle the turkeys, "real turkeys," and not just the meat loaf!

That's not the last time the creators put themselves in it either — see Vic's Lounge towards the end of What You Leave Behind and just about every dedication plaque ever! There's also The Rock and the Iggy Pop in the room, the Mick Fleetwood on the transporter pad, and the Tom Morello down on deck 15. Sounds like one hell of a party, but it's one we've already attended in our lists on 'Actors You didn't Know Were In Star Trek' and 'Star Trek Cameos You Probably Missed'.

Here, we've dug deeper still to find a gaggle of familiar faces and voices whose Star Trek credits (or 'uncrediteds') almost certainly passed you by — cameos and career actors alike. Some were well hidden behind make-up and masks; others were hiding in plain sight. Others still will surprise you by quite how much Star Trek they're actually in. One of them isn't Seán, but there's still time!

10. Tom Bergeron

Tom Bergeron is best known to American audiences as TV host of everything from Good Morning America to Hollywood Squares, America's Funniest Home Videos, and Dancing with the Stars. Starting with, quite appropriately, 'TV News Reporter,' in Gremlins, Bergeron also has a few acting credits to his name. That includes two appearances in Star Trek: Enterprise.

For his first, Bergeron got the role thanks to friend, and colleague in a central place, Whoopi Goldberg! During filming of Star Trek: Nemesis, Goldberg invited Bergeron — a Star Trek fan — onto the Nemesis set and then that of Enterprise. Bumping into Rick Berman during the tour, Bergeron apparently impressed so much with his knowledge of the Suliban and the NX-01 warp core that the executive producer offered him a part there and then.

Thinking he was just going to be 'random background Klingon,' Bergeron actually got the much meatier role of alien trader — and Cardassian homophone — D'Marr in the teaser to Oasis. You might have missed him amidst all the make-up and ghost stories in the Captain's Mess!

Even with the updated universal translators, Bergeron was unrecognisable under yet heavier prosthetic make-up (and possible ceremonial mask) for his second guest role. In Demons, he was the Coridanite ambassador to the United Earth 'Coalition of Planets' conference.
